The Inaugural Aspen Snow Ball Gala Benefiting Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation

An annual fête for the fight against pediatric cancer

In Aspen on January 28th, 2023 Film Producer Thomas Pierce hosted the first edition of the Aspen Snow Ball in support of Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research and the launch of Children’s Oncology Support fund (COSF) founded by Pierce. 

The gala was lead up with sponsor events throughout the week including a kick off party with Chopard at Aspenx Mountain Club, Sip and Shop for a cause events with Moncler, Lugano Diamonds, and a VIP Night Before Dinner at The Snow Lodge Aspen with Casa Del Sol and DAOU Family Estates. The week concluded with a special brunch honoring the women behind Aspen Snow Ball with Farfetch Chopard, and Aero.

The “black-tie fantasy” gala was held at the St. Regis Aspen, the experience transported guests to an immersive “Narnia” featuring a cocktail reception with a silent auction, a gala dinner program with a live auction of exclusive bucket list experiences, artwork, and fine jewelry conducted by Jamie McDonald. Guests enjoyed a surprise opening performance by musical artist Asher Monroe, the dinner ended with a very special performance by Diana Ross and Macy Gray headlined the on-premise after party. 

Unforgettable highlights of the event included opening remarks by Thomas Pierce, providing the audience with the genesis of his initiative, as well as inspiring speeches by Honorary Chair and Oscar Winning actress Marcia Gay Harden and honoree Denise Rich, founder of Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation. Laura Calabrese Kruger received the Community Leadership Award for her philanthropy actions supporting Colorado based Shining Stars Foundation.

Guests were dazzled by a balloon raffle paddle raise that racked up to $450,000 and included prizes from Lugano Diamonds, Chopard, and a luxury dream ski trip by Kempinski Grand Hotel St. Mortiz. The night continued with a live auction with a variety of art pieces and one-of-a-kind luxury items and experiences.. Highlights of the auction included a live painting from artist Bradley Theodore, and artworks by Marcel Van Luit, Peter Tunney, Phillipe Shangati, a five night trip with helicopter transfers to Mount Everest, and the most iconic painting from Mr Brainwash was the big win racking up $50,000.

International celebrities, philanthropists, and notable guests from all over the world helped raise $2.5 millions dollars in support of COSF’s launch and dedication to the development of more effective therapies for pediatric cancer patients. Proceeds from the event will go to Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research. 

The event was made possible with the generous support of presenting partner Chopard, and co-presenting sponsors FARFETCH and Weber Boxer Group with support from Champagne Bollinger, Casa Del Sol, Desolas Mezcal, DAOU Family Estates, The St. Regis Aspen, The Snow Lodge Aspen, Aero, Hendricks, and Lugano Diamonds.
